Who are we?
E.B.S.C. opened in July 1997 after the Gymnasium, Fitness Studio, Reception and Community changing rooms were constructed with funding obtained from various agencies including the National Lottery Sports Fund, School and Babergh District Council. The Sports hall predates the opening of the sports centre. The Centre shares a manager with Hadleigh Leisure Centre who is employed by both of the Schools.
It is a dual-use Sports Centre, used predominantly by the High School during the day and the local community, evenings, weekends and the Fitness Studio is available 8am - 1pm Monday, Thursday and Fridays. When the school breaks, the Sports Centre hosts or runs daytime activities for children.
In 2005 the Centre gained accreditation from the English Federation of Disability Sport's Inclusive Fitness Initiative. To gain accreditiation, a Centre must be accessible for all disabilities, should have equipment that both disabled and non-disabled can use and have disabled friendly policies.
The Centre has SAFE accreditation, it's policies and training in relation to children are annually examined by SAFE Child to give families the confidence that the safeguarding of children is given a high priority.
